Remember, until the early 1990s, creature effects were all done with puppetry and hand-drawn animation. Yoda's first appearance was in 1980's "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back," and at that time he was a short foam puppet. Many believed that when Yoda was introduced in 1999's "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" he would be completely CGI.

 

However, many of the scenes in "The Phantom Menace" were completed exactly like they were nearly 20 years earlier - with puppets. The answer, then, is 2002's "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones."
