Movie Premiere Party
You have written the script, scouted the location, assigned the actors, directed and filmed the movie, edited it to final copy – it is now time to share your creation with family and friends.  There is now better way than to have your own Movie Premiere.  That’s right just like they do in Hollywood.  You deserve it.  Here are some tips on how to make your Premiere as good as your movie.

  • Send out Movie invites. You can make your own with a screenshot from the movie and a brief overview of the movie’s theme- or you can purchase Movie Invites (see out Store), and send those to family and friends.
  • Decorate your house for the filming.  Pick a room that you will screen the movie in and make or purchase movie icons to create the feel of a real movie premiere.  Oscar cut-outs, red carpet, movie reels can create a movie atmosphere
  • Introduce your film at the screening.  Tell your audience what you were trying to accomplish with your film (did you want them to laugh, or be scared, or to learn a particular lesson).  Give some examples of what went right or wrong during the filming.
  • After the screening take questions and comments from the audience. Don’t be afraid of criticism, even the best directors ask for feedback from their audiences, that ‘s how they get better.  Remember the best film of the 20th century “Citizen Kane” was rejected by audiences when it first was released.
  • Have an afterparty for your guests.  After all this is a celebration.  Again you can create the mood yourself or purchase cups, plates and decorations that set a movie mood.
  • Most importantly have fun, and feel proud.  Making a movie is a major accomplishment.   Congratulations!

Movie Birthday Party

Birthday parties offer a great opportunity for kids and parents to offer something different than the same old pin the tail on the donkey idea.  You can wow your friends with a real “Movie Magic” party.  Here are some ideas on how to create a party your friends will not forget.  The age of the partygoers will dictate the level of technical knowledge needed.   To get started all you will need is a digital movie camera.  If you have a computer with editing capability , like imovie, it will allow more sophisticated fun.  But just a camera will do just fine.

  • Have the kids discuss  a movie concept.  Do a rough Storyboard of the movie
  • Assign roles to each person (filming, director, actors, sound, location scouts etc.)
  • Have them shoot each scene- short is better than long.
  • Make sound effects that they would add to the movie
  • Pick background music for the movie.  Add with a movie editing program .or have it playing in the background as the movie runs.
  • Create titles ( again use an editing program, or write the titles as signs and hold in front of the camera)
  • Play the movie for the party crowd.  Include time at the end of the movie to play out of the “outtakes” that didn’t make it to the final copy- this is usually more entertaining that the movie itself!
